Message Here's a pic of me and the car

What??? Isn't Zarcasm the guy who just tore the hell out of his NA? Yes, that's me. The omission of step 18 in the posting of my tracking down the hesitation issue seems to have gone largely unnoticed but I assure you the omission was no accident. It's been two years now that I've owned my NA and after much soul-searching and financial analysis I've decided to take everyone's advice and buy a twinturbo. Ironically the opportunity came right when I had the NA engine almost completely torn down.

NA engine without heads

What's more, the twinturbo I was interested was located halfway across the country from me, in Texas! Here's a link to the original ad.

Because I didn't want to make the trip to Texas twice I made arrangements with the seller to have the car checked out by a local expert within two months, and if successful I would commit with a down payment. Full payment and car pickup was to occur a month after that.

Arrangements were made and AliaZ was kind enough to do a thorough inspection on my behalf where all issues matched the seller's descriptions. Having the car transported back to Connecticut was the cost me over $1200 so at the end of March I flew to Texas intent in picking up the new twinturbo and driving her back 28 hours to Connecticut. My friends were throwing a big birthday bash in St. Louis and so I scheduled that and my parents house in Pittsburgh as convenient stopover points with nine hours driving in between each stop.

Here are some pics of the car associated with the original ad

Arriving in St. Louis I decided a slight rumbling noise could be alleviated with a quick stop at the tire shop to have all the wheels balanced. I was shocked when they rolled this back left tire into me in the waiting room.

All the other tires were A-OK but this one. I was told I have a 50/50 shot of making the final 1,100 miles to Hartford unless I do something about this tire so a massive search was initiated late Saturday night to find a suitable replacement for this 19" tire. All the tire stores were closed or didn't stock 19 inch tires though they said they could have them in by Tuesday. A desperate post for help was put on here - thanks for your offers to help SilverTwin(OH). In the end a friend of a friend of the tire store manager was a 240Z drift racer and had a set of four wheels and tires available that fit the Z32. After Saturday night's birthday bash we all met at the tire store Sunday at noon. I bought two 240Z back wheels and tires to have an equal pair and still have enough trunk space to haul back to original wheels with tires.

Here's a pic of the Z with 240Z rims just before leaving St. Louis. Looks ghetto but got me home safe.

The rest of the trip home was uneventful except when I hit Danbury, Connecticut. The intermittent speedometer, a known issue, was causing the HICAS gains to jump violently in the turns on the highway making it sporting -- more like a little dangerous -- to navigate around some of the big rigs along the highway turns.

The seller, giovanna145, and AliaZ were shocked to find out they'd overlooked the back inside edge of this one tire (as was I for overlooking that too). Both were very apologetic and backed up their apologies with very generous financial compensation.

Given the condition of the car I had anticipated some level of drama. I'm nothing short of ecstatic in the way everything was handled by all involved.

So now I am a proud owner of my first twinturbo. I'll be cleaning up the "Best NA on the East Coast" as I'm putting it up for sale... so if you're interested, or if you know someone who is interested in my NA, please pass this along. Yes, I really like my Zs white!

So I've now switched over to the dark side and joined the ranks of the twinturbo crowd. In light of this epic journey it seems a screen name change is in order so my future posts will be made under:

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:
BIG thanks to giovanna145 for your patience and your continuous efforts at making me feel comfortable with our deal despite the great distance. Your actions made me feel much less anxious about following through on this mad plan.
BIG thanks goes to Dave and Colleen, and friends for accommodating me while also preparing for and throwing an awesome birthday bash! You guys are the absolute best!!
BIG thanks goes to AliaZ for your integrity in sending me back the inspection fee -- that wasn't necessary, is over the top, but I very much appreciate it!
Thanks to Twin3037, TXQ45, marklar182, and Greg for offering to perform the inspection for me in TX or helping me make arrangements in this regard. I much appreciate it!
Thanks to Goeff Harrison of Autotire in St. Charles, MO (2185 Droste Rd). I sent corporate a letter commending these guys for their great customer service. If you live around St. Charles/St. Louis and need tire help, this is THE PLACE to go!
Tammy thanks for trying to help me out in St. Louis as well.
Drifter Girl, if you're out there, you're now the source of legend and inspired my lecherous imagination. Conrad who sold me the wheels in St. Louis just told me you're an ace mechanic and good driver but the novelty of this conjures up a 240Z version of Danica Patrick... and... well...
